Housebuilder’s donation helps fill school’s library

- 23 Mar 21

A primary school in Northstowe has been able to stock up its library thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder. Vistry East Midlands, which is building at two developments in the new town, gifted a hamper of new books to The Pathfinder Church of England Primary School. The hamper was given to the school in celebration of World Book Day, which took place on Thursday 4 March, and contained a range of children’s fiction for pupils to enjoy. Mark Elwood, English Lead at The Pathfinder Church of England Primary School, said: “Reading is a universal and vitally important skill to all. A rich and varied reading diet is essential for the development of our children. “As a growing school established in 2017, we are incredibly grateful for Vistry’s generous donation, celebrating both World Book Day and our return to school, and we cannot wait to see the children enjoying their new books”. Nic Chapman, sales and marketing director for Vistry East Midlands, said: “We can think of no better way to mark World Book Day than to offer this gift of books to a local school, enabling it to provide a wider choice of reading materials for its pupils. “We hope that these new additions to the library will be enjoyed by the children at The Pathfinder Church of England Primary School now and in the future.” World Book Day is an annual initiative that aims to celebrate books and reading, especially among children and young people. Northstowe is a new town situated eight miles north of Cambridge. It will eventually comprise around 10,000 homes, schools, a GP surgery, convenience stores and community facilities. Vistry East Midlands – part of Vistry Group which includes Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships – has two developments in Northstowe, both of which are within a mile of The Pathfinder Church of England Primary School. The Boulevards by Linden Homes, off Stirling Road, features a selection of two, three and four-bedroom houses for sale, with prices starting from £340,000. There is also a mix of two and five-bedroom properties for sale at Bovis Homes at Northstowe, off Links Lane, with prices starting from £234,995. A new phase of homes at this development is coming soon, which will offer a further mix of two to five-bedroom properties.
