Housebuilder’s hamper donation brings festive cheer to Cheshire support group

- 23 Nov 20

A local Cheshire support group – which was established in response to the coronavirus pandemic – has welcomed the donation of a hamper by national housebuilder, Bovis Homes. The Haslington Support Group will be using the hamper, which includes a bottle of champagne and a bottle of gin liqueur, in an upcoming Christmas raffle for local residents. Helen Mollart, treasurer of the Haslington Support Group, said: “We’d like to thank Bovis Homes for this wonderful donation. This hamper is the top prize in our raffle; and our latest newsletter to local residents has included an individual raffle number. We anticipate a great response!” Lou Macrae, regional marketing manager, said: “We’re happy to help a local cause such as this as it provides great community spirit during these times. It’s good to know that there’s such good local support in the Haslington area and for the Hazelmere residents; and our team are happy to be able to support this”. The Haslington Support Group was founded in March 2020 by Phil McKnight and Connie Davies with an aim to support the local community. Within the first few weeks, 400 residents registered as volunteers to help their neighbours with prescription deliveries, providing transport to medical appointments and keeping in contact with isolated individuals. Also, following the success of a Village Safari Trail and The Halloween Trail earlier this year, the Haslington Support Group has organised a ‘Wizard of Oz’ themed Christmas Village Trail for those that have kindly donated. Along the trail, which will be mapped out for families to follow, homes will be dressed for the festive season and little ones will need to find as many as they can. More details will be announced soon on the Haslington Support Group’s Facebook page. For more information on the Haslington Support Group, visit www.haslingtongroup.co.uk and find their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HaslingtonSupportGroup. Individual donations can be made via the Haslington Support Group’s gofundme page: www.gofundme.com/f/essential-shopping-haslington-support. Bovis Homes – which is part of the newly-formed Vistry Group – is part of the local community with the Hazelmere development located in Haslington offering a range of three and four-bedroom homes.
