An Irish dancer from Congleton says her stage experience is helping her deliver for customers at a local new-home location.

Claire Blatchford, 32, said her move into the construction industry was a step in the right direction as the confidence she gets from dancing has helped her to win a prestigious award with Bovis Homes.

Claire, who also performs as a singer, finds she is in her element helping customers who are looking to buy at Saxon Lea in Sandbach and want to know all about the benefits of buying a new-build over a second-hand home.

Claire bought her own Bovis Home two years ago when she joined the company, and thanks to her engaging style and communication skills, recently won ‘Sales Advisor of the Year’ at the housebuilder.

She says she has been selling homes to a variety of buyers at Saxon Lea, including first-time buyers, families and downsizers.

Claire said: “I love performing and it’s really helped in my housebuilding career so far with Bovis Homes as I’m very natural with customers and used to communicating with a wide range of people.

“We sold a huge amount of homes last year at Saxon Lea and have been doing really well so far this year too with all types of buyers. A big attraction is the semi-rural location. You can enjoy peace and quiet right by the Trent and Mersey Canal, but you are also close to Sandbach and good schools and transport links, with the M6 just a short drive away.

“We have smaller three-bedroom properties up to larger, five-bedroom homes and many homebuyers are using our purchasing schemes, including Home Exchange and Help to Buy.”

Claire left school at 16 and moved to London to join a performing arts school. She performed in Tap and Riverdance in the capital as well as in Spain and the Balearic Islands. She also performed in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which included dance routines from the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

Claire now takes part in Irish dances every Thursday in Macclesfield and sings at army gigs, as part of a 1940s wartime-themed show, across the country.

The music lover, who lives with her partner Paul, moved into a four-bedroom property at Bovis Homes’ Loachbrook Meadow location in 2016.

“We love our home and are so glad we made the decision to buy a new-build with Bovis Homes. It’s a great location and easily commutable, for both work and my performances,” she said.
