It's a family affair as Bishop's Cleeve makes the perfect Homelands for the Sprys

- 08 Nov 17

When Ben and Elizabeth Spry moved to The Homelands in Bishop's Cleeve, they didn't realise that they would be starting a family trend, with Ben's mum and dad, sister, brother and sister-in-law all deciding to follow suit and move into new Bovis Homes there!

For Ben's mum, Gill, it's a delight to be surrounded by so many Sprys!

As a mum, you always fear your children will grow up and move miles away from you, but I never dreamt that we'd all be living so close! she says. Having all my family living on the same development as us is lovely - especially now we have the grandchildren.

Trailblazers Ben and Elizabeth originally decided to move from the centre of nearby Cheltenham to Bishop's Cleeve for a more rural lifestyle.

We really like that the development is on the edge of the village, yet within walking distance of the local pub and shops, says Ben. The house is exactly what we were after for our first family home, and purchasing a new-build gave us the peace of mind that everything would be taken care of for us, and we wouldn't have to worry about replacing anything for a long time. We've been really happy since moving here three years ago.

When mum and dad then started looking at homes to downsize, we didn't hesitate to recommend The Homelands. Not only would they be closer to us, but we knew that there was enough choice for them to find a home which would be perfect for their lifestyle.

So a couple of years after Ben and Elizabeth set up home, Gill and husband Paul, decided to buy a property at The Homelands, joining their son and daughter-in-law.

Just a few months later, Jenna, the eldest sibling, decided she wanted to be closer to her family and also moved to the development. Now son Joe has also bought a home there with his wife, Stephanie.
Ben and Elizabeth have one child, 8-month old Barnaby, while Joe and Stephanie have a daughter, Esme, who is 18-months old.

As well as moving into a Bovis Home, Stephanie also has another connection with the house builder as she now works at its Western regional office based in the village as marketing manager.

Bishop's Cleeve is a lovely location, says Stephanie. The family all get on really well and with work just around the corner, it's perfect!

Gill and Paul selected the three-bedroom Gotherington house type, which has an open-plan kitchen and dining area, separate sitting room and an en suite and built-in wardrobe to the master bedroom. The house also benefits from large bay windows to the front of the home and French doors leading out into the garden in the dining area.

Stephanie and Joe selected the four-bedroom Hailes house type, while Ben and Elizabeth live in the three-bedroom Southwold. Both homes have an open-plan downstairs which includes the sitting room, kitchen and dining area.

We often spent lots of time together, especially at weekends, says Gill. But now we're all here it has made spending time together even easier! It's been great during the summer to walk around to each other's homes for family BBQs. We're so lucky!

Bovis Homes' Homelands location offers a range of three, four and five-bedroom properties in a variety of styles. For more information about the location, visit the sales centre, call 01242 329015 or go to www.bovishomes.co.uk.
