It's a family affair at new Shifnal location

Paula and Lee Dabbs weren’t looking to move house, but after their daughter decided to reserve a property at Bovis Homes’ Iddeshale Gardens location in Shifnal, they too fell in love with the new community.

Moving into their fourth brand-new property, the Shropshire couple were blown away by the service they received from Bovis Homes and say it has been their best new-build experience.

“It all came a little ahead of schedule really,” says Paula, who works as head of organisational development at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital. “We had planned to downsize in the future, but not for five or so years. It was our daughter, Alice, and her partner, George, who first looked around Iddeshale Gardens.”

Keen to get on the housing ladder, Alice and George were looking to buy a property that had rental potential as they frequently work away serving in the Armed Forces.

Paula says: “They looked around Iddeshale Gardens and completely fell in love with the place. They decided that they wanted to live there themselves at the first available opportunity. It then got us thinking that they could do with some neighbours who could keep an eye on the house while they were away! We were also impressed by Iddeshale Gardens, so decided to bring our plan forward and move a few years early!”

With the three-bedroom Horton house type next door to Alice and George available, everything seemed to fit into place.

“We wanted to stay in Shifnal, as we really like the area, and we wanted to stay close to our other daughter, Hannah, and her partner, Ben, who also live in the town.

“The home just ticked all the boxes and was perfect for us. It has great kerb appeal, there’s a good amount of parking and the home is south facing.

“We understood that our move wasn’t going to be as straight forward as others. We needed to move at the same time as Alice and George and we only had a two-week window for it to happen when they were in the country. But we were absolutely blown away by the service we received. The team really went above and beyond and worked their socks off to make sure we moved within the time frame.

“Amanda, the sales advisor, was absolutely fantastic and completely understood the issues we faced. With Alice out of the country, it was reassuring to know Amanda had it all in hand. She thought of absolutely everything and she always put us, the customers, first.”

Settling in at the end of last year, Paula and Lee are delighted with their new home.

“Although we’ve downsized from a four-bed, I don’t feel like we’ve compromised on space,” says Paula. “We love our home and really enjoy living at Iddeshale Gardens.”
