Key worker couple praise Bovis Homes after dream move in Oxfordshire

Steven Badger, a keen football fan with an interest in musical theatre, and his partner Liberty Peck, are some of the latest residents to move to Bovis Homes’ East Gate development in Wantage. They have praised the housebuilder after their dream move was made a reality, with support from the Help to Buy scheme*. Earlier this year, the couple moved into the three-bedroom Cypress house type, which is from the housebuilder’s latest collection of homes, using the scheme that is exclusive to new-build properties. Speaking about the move, Steven said: “Using the Help to Buy scheme was important for us, due to the amount we had available for deposit. It was very simple to access through Bovis Homes’ recommended financial advisor and I would recommend it to anyone considering getting on to the property ladder or looking to upsize!” Using the Help to Buy – Equity Loan scheme, home buyers need just a five per cent cash deposit, with the Government providing an equity loan of up to 20 per cent of the value of the property being bought. Purchasers then need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage. Talking about what attracted Steven and his partner to East Gate at Bovis Homes, he said: “We loved that the property would be modern and ready to move in to. There is so much light and brightness in our new home from the big windows, and we just love the spacious kitchen. “The location is so close to town, which is fantastic, as well as being the right side of Wantage to commute to work for us. I'm an assistant head teacher and being this side of town means that I can get out to Reading Road quickly, with less traffic. “I've lived in the area my whole life and Liberty, a nursery nurse, has lived in Abingdon previously, but we both really like the proximity to Oxford and Newbury from Wantage, as well as good transport links via Didcot Parkway. There are also lovely walks to Ardington just a stone's throw away – all in all, East Gate is a brilliant location. “We’ve both been extremely happy with the moving process. The sales consultants were very informative at every stage, as well as being sensitive to the stresses that can come with moving! “They did all they could to keep things moving, even with the added complications of Covid-19 and lockdown. Since moving in, the site manager has been excellent too: professional, friendly and efficient. “There’s a good sense of community here as well.
