Last chance to buy at Devon location as young couples target Fremington new-builds

- 29 Oct 18

Young couples have been buying new-build properties in droves at a north Devon location overlooking the River Taw.

Marian Southwick, sales advisor at Bovis Homes’ Water’s Edge development in Fremington, near Barnstaple, said more and more first-time buyers in their early 30s were moving into the new homes.

There is just one house left to buy in the location’s current phase – but more will be ready to move into by Christmas.

Marian, who has worked for Bovis Homes for two years, said: “There is a lovely mix of residents at Water’s Edge, but increasingly we are seeing first-time buyers who are in their 30s moving in.

“I think they are surprised by how much they get for their money. There are some very good-sized gardens here and plenty of space throughout the development.

“We have a lot of garages too, so there is very little need for street parking. All these factors are attracting buyers.”

Marian added retirees were also visiting the location in high numbers due to the size of properties and their value for money.

The Tarka Trail, popular with walkers and cyclists, runs beside the development and leads to places including Ilfracombe and Okehampton.

Residents can also enjoy nearby Fremington Quay and St Peter’s Church, plus plenty of green space on the site including a football pitch, artificial turf and two playing areas for children.

“We’re seeing a lot of people who are retired selling their older properties and buying here, meaning they get a quality new-build home and can save thousands of pounds,” she said.

“St Peter’s Church is beautiful and there is a walled garden. The River Taw is right beside us and many of the homes have views over the estuary.”

Water’s Edge has one three-bedroom Sheringham available to buy. The three-bedroom Southwold, four-bedroom Canterbury and four-bedroom Eliot will be built by Christmas.
