Malpas more mobile as Bovis Homes joins community's minibus drive

- 20 Nov 17

Many Malpas residents are now able to get out and about as a new minibus is launched in the village, thanks to the efforts of the local community and donations from organisations and businesses such as Bovis Homes.

Over the past year, a dedicated group of volunteers have been fundraising for a new minibus for the Cheshire village, enabling local organisations, groups and individuals to travel to events, attractions and facilities in the area.

Bovis Homes, which has joined the community with its Hampton Lea location, was delighted to support the project and representatives attended the launch event which saw local MP, Antoinette Sandbach, introduce the minibus to the village.

"This project has opened doors for clubs, groups and organisations, and for those who are unable to jump in a car and go to where they need to be," says Bovis Homes' regional marketing manager, Carina Wilde. "We were glad to be able to donate towards this worthy cause, which will be a fantastic asset for the local community."

Requests for use of the minibus have already come in from groups catering for toddlers, teens, sports enthusiasts and older people.

John Webb, Chairman of the Malpas Community Minibus group, says: "I am really pleased that so many organisations, individuals and groups have supported this important project. The minibus will enable villagers who don't have their own transport to access to a range of services, including leisure and cultural activities. We hope that very many local clubs and organisations will use the minibus and it will become an integral part of life in our beautiful village."

Reaching this milestone and obtaining the minibus has been a real community effort. Along with donations from a variety of local people and businesses, Malpas Alport Primary School also showed a huge amount of enthusiasm and held a minibus logo competition. The winning student's logo will be selected to grace the side of the silver vehicle.
