Mayor visits Bedford's newest school

- 03 Apr 17

Bedford's Mayor, Dave Hodgson, met with developers, councillors and teachers to celebrate the town's newest school as it nears completion.

The Great Ouse Primary Academy is scheduled to open in September 2017 and will cater for 420 pupils and further enhance the new part of the Bedford community, known as Kings Field.

Christopher Tompkins, Associate Engineering Director at Bovis Homes, which is the lead developer in the project, said: "The Great Ouse Primary Academy is sure to heighten the fantastic community spirit that is already plentiful at Kings Field and is part of over £8million worth of investment into the local area.

"It is the latest in a host of fantastic new facilities being provided for local residents that's making the location so popular with home buyers. In the near future, there will also be sports pitches, a pavilion and a country park created for residents to enjoy."

Building contractor, Mi-Space, has been contracted to undertake the construction of the school, which will be adjacent to 102 new Bovis Homes.

With cycle links and footpaths into town, Kings Field is already a flourishing community with the first residents having moved to the neighbourhood in October last year. Bovis Homes has a wide variety of properties available for buyers ranging from two-bedroom coach houses to five-bedroom homes. Linden Homes have also got a selection of homes at the location.
