Work has officially begun on a new primary school for Buckingham - a key part of the delivery of the proposals for the popular Windsor Park location.

Funded and managed by a consortium of homebuilders including Bovis Homes, Lace Hill Academy will cater for 210 children.

The new school is part of the Bourton Meadow Education Trust (BMET) and is scheduled to open in September 2015. It will include a 26-place onsite nursery and have outdoor areas for each classroom, a dance studio and a state-of-the-art children's kitchen, as well as the very latest ICT provision, including interactive screens and mobile devices such as iPads.

Construction work is now underway, following a recent ceremony in which pupils from Bourton Meadow Academy were joined by representatives from Bovis Homes, Barratt Homes and BMET, including Executive Head Martyn Kitson, to 'cut the sod' at the six-hectare site, located in Windsor Park on London Road.

Simon Bridge, regional project manager at Bovis Homes, said: "Work at Windsor Park is progressing well and it is quickly becoming an established part of the wider Buckingham community.

"The provision of this excellent new education facility is an important milestone in the lifetime of the project and shows the great benefits that Windsor Park is bringing for both those new residents moving in and also the wider community."

Martyn Kitson, Executive Head of the Bourton Meadow Education Trust, said, "We are very happy that work has now started on this fantastic new establishment. As well as offering outstanding educational facilities, it is also hoped that Lace Hill Academy will become a focal point for the local community."
