Moreton-in-Marsh Croquet Club receives welcome boost from local housebuilder

- 03 Dec 20

The Moreton-in-Marsh Croquet Club received a welcome contribution from local housebuilder Bovis Homes – part of Vistry Group. The housebuilder donated £1,000 to the club and this contribution will go towards the much-needed development of lawns for the group and its members. As the croquet club is the only one of its kind within 20 miles of the town, the club is invaluable at serving the local and nearby community. Bovis Homes is currently building its new development, The Avenue, in the town too. Doreen Exton, Chair of the Moreton-in-Marsh Croquet Club, said: "Many people don’t know this, but Moreton-in-Marsh is actually historically linked to the game of croquet as the first World Championships were held in Moreton in 1868. “The club committee is very grateful to Bovis Homes for their support in bringing the game back home and ensuring the enjoyment of croquet for existing and future club members." Nicola Goldsmith, sales and marketing director in Vistry’s Cotswolds region, said: “We are extremely pleased to support the local croquet club in Moreton-in-Marsh, as we know how much groups like this are valued by the local community. We wish the club all the best with their future and hope some of our The Avenue residents are able to enjoy the new faciltiies too!” The Avenue is located just under a mile away from Moreton-in-Marsh town centre with two and three-bedroom homes still available. Find out more about The Avenue on Bovis Homes’ website.
