Moving moment as Phil pops the question on first night in Cheshire new-build home

A happy couple in Cheshire, who moved into a new-build home, will remember their first night there forever - as they got engaged!

Phil Everall popped the question to his partner Mary Bostock as they shared a bottle of Pink Champagne to mark their new Bovis Home at Marbury Meadows in Wrenbury.

Mary immediately said ‘yes’ as the couple sat out in the garden, drink in hand and they married last month in nearby Nantwich.

Mary said: “I knew absolutely nothing about it. We were outside in the garden, late in the evening, enjoying our new home and were so happy, marking the house move.

“When Phil asked me to marry him, I couldn’t believe it and, of course, I said yes.

“We didn’t want to wait and had a beautiful wedding with our friends and family in Georgian mansion house, the Residence, in Nantwich.”

Mary and Phil moved into their four-bedroom Winsford house type with Phil’s daughter Lucy, 20, who loves having her own bedroom with an en suite. The couple have four daughters between them and so needed extra bedrooms to use for guest visits.

Mary’s friend Michelle Johnson recommended Marbury Meadows to her, as they wanted a modern home in a quiet location, and they ended up putting their deposits down on the same day. They now live right by each other, with their gardens touching.

Mary said the Winsford’s large, south west facing garden, big open kitchen and dining area, and four good-size bedrooms, sold it to them.

This is their first new-build home and they love its social layout, plus the community feel of Marbury Meadows. Mary and Phil also praised the Bovis Homes team for their quality of work and customer service.

Mary and Phil had separate homes in Nantwich before they decided to move in together. Mary sold hers and Phil used Bovis Homes’ Home Exchange scheme.

With Home Exchange, Bovis Homes will purchase the mover's current property, meaning they avoid those fees and complicated house chains.

Now the couple will enjoy a quiet Christmas and reflect on a very busy few months. Phil’s Dad and Lucy will join them, while other family and friends pop in.

“This is the first new-build I’ve lived in and I love it, it’s a blank canvas that we can slowly put our own stamp on,” Mary said.

“We had a joint housewarming and engagement party, for about 30 people, with a big marquee in the garden. People could come in and out of the house as we had the patio doors open.

“We’ve got such lovely neighbours and we have had a few get togethers. There are two village pubs nearby too, which are great.

“I would definitely recommend Bovis Homes and Marbury Meadows to others as staff are always here when you need them and anything that needs sorting, which hasn’t been very much, is done straight away.

“Our house and all our neighbouring ones are very well-built and it’s a lovely, warm home. We look forward to spending our first Christmas here.”
