New kit for Barnstaple Ability Counts FC thanks to boost from housebuilder

- 03 Jul 19

A Barnstaple youth football team are looking the part thanks to the support from a local housebuilder.

Players at Barnstaple Ability Counts Football Club have donned a brand-new kit after Bovis Homes donated £250 to the team.

“We were delighted to support the club,” says regional marketing manager, Faye Cooper. “The team look fantastic in their new kit – we hope it brings them lots of success on the football field!”

The club is open for boys and girls aged between 8 and 16 years old who have a disability and want to play football. The coaches at the club, which trains at Tews Lane Playing Fields, have a basic knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL). The team is part of the Devon Ability Counts Football League, offering players the chance to play matches against other disability football clubs from across the region.

“We would like to thank Bovis Homes for its support,” says Maggie Birchmore, Club Secretary. “It’s a huge boost for the team and really helps them to feel the part with their smart new matching kit.

“Our players very much look forward to training and match days – for many, it is the highlight of their week. The club gives them the opportunity to get out and make new friends. It also gives parents and carers a rest as they know that their child is well looked after.”

Bovis Homes has a history of supporting local communities and is proud to have joined forces with the football club. It has become part of the North Devon community with its Water's Edge location in Fremington and The Landings in Braunton.
