Planning achieved for 50 new homes in Congresbury
- 28 Jan 22
Bovis Homes, part of the Vistry Group, has received planning approval to create 50 new homes off Wrington Lane in Congresbury, North Somerset. The development will feature a range of two, three, four and five bedroom properties to suit many different buyers’ needs and budgets. 15 homes will be available as affordable housing, benefitting the community and ensuring local housing needs are met. There will also be two play areas for children. Robin Potter, technical director, commented: “We’re delighted to receive reserved matters planning approval in Congresbury. It’s a fantastic scheme and we look forward to starting the enabling works soon. “As well as 50 high quality residential homes, we will also be providing: a property built to support a homeowner with disabilities; a play area and a trim trail; a footpath along Wrington Lane, from the site to Kent Road, which forms part of our off-site S278 works; photovoltaic/solar panels on 60 per cent of homes; and electrical vehicle charging points to some properties.” Enhanced landscape planting, as well as bird and bat boxes, will feature throughout the development and an area will be available for cows to graze, benefitting the local ecosystem. The development will be called St Congar’s Place after St Congar, whom the village is named after. St Congar was a Welsh abbot in the sixth century who travelled to Congresbury to form a monastery and is said to have performed a series of miracles in the village. St Congar’s Place will also support the local community by contributing over £213,000 towards: local sports pitches, primary education, transport for secondary education, special educational needs and disability services, sports and leisure, traffic management, a local travel plan and a youth education contribution towards Congresbury Youth Centre. Vistry has a five-star rating for customer satisfaction levels from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) and was named the Large Housebuilder of the Year at the Housebuilder Awards 2021, run in partnership with the National House Building Council (NHBC) and HBF.
