Plans for 130 new homes in Northam get the green light
Vistry Group has been granted reserved matters planning approval and will start work this winter on an exciting 130-home development off Bay View Road in Northam.

Vistry – that brings together the energy and talents of Bovis Homes and Linden Homes – will be creating the spectacular development of high quality homes, overlooking the bay. The scheme will feature a collection of one and two bedroom apartments, plus two, three, four and five bedroom homes, with over 21 per cent affordable housing. There will also be areas of open space and land for a new school and an extra care facility.

John Parry, regional land director at Vistry Group in the south west, said: “We’re delighted that planning has been approved on this fantastic site in Northam and we’d like to thank all the individuals and organisations that have worked on this project to date. The contemporary coastal design will feature crisp white and pastel-coloured renders, grey horizontal cladding and red brickwork plinths. It’s going to be a very special development in a stunning location, close to the water, and it was important to us that we created a well-designed scheme that complemented the local area.

“Bovis Homes will start work on site this winter, with the first completions expected in summer 2021. We’ve already received a number of enquiries so we’re encouraging homebuyers to call 01271 355998 to ensure they’re the first to hear about launch dates and price releases.”

Paul Osborne, LHC Design director, said: ‘We are very pleased to have been able to secure reserved matters planning, with Trace Design and James Blake Associates, for this exciting scheme.

“The site offers a combination of coastal and countryside views in a wonderful location, close to great surf beaches, Bideford and Barnstaple – and importantly delivers a range of houses to meet local demand, including 28 affordable homes, within a strong landscape setting. The site also unlocks future phases of development, with the potential to deliver a further 370 homes at Daddon Hill.

‘It’s been a pleasure to have helped Vistry Group secure this site. I’d also like to highlight the positive role of Torridge District Council officers and councillors in dealing with this application quickly and proactively during lockdown.”

Vistry Group is always on the look-out for land opportunities in South Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall for 100-500 unit schemes. For more information visit www.bovishomes.co.uk or to get in touch with the land team email john.parry@vistry.co.uk
