Proud housebuilder dad in Wouldham loves showing family his team’s quality homes

- 05 May 21

A housebuilder who joined the industry aged 16 and recently came out of semi-retirement to build homes in Wouldham has spoken of his family’s pride over the quality of homes at the location. Nick Murphy, site manager at Bovis Homes’ Osprey Rise at Peters Village development, regularly drives past the site when he’s not working and shows it to his wife Sue, daughter Chloe, 22, and adopted children – Cam, 17, Summer, 11, Dylan, 7, and Holly, 5. Nick, who has been a foster carer with his wife for 17 years, said his kids regularly ask about how the development is progressing and why he loves the job so much. A show home and sales office have just been launched at the location. The 53-year-old, from nearby Sittingbourne, said: “At the weekend I often pop into work, including on a Sunday, and they always like to know what’s going on and know Dad works there. “I just give it my all, with my team, and want customers to move into homes that I would move into. You’ve got to communicate, that’s key, with the customers, your colleagues and tradespeople. It’s challenging work, but I love a challenge. Wouldham and Kent is a beautiful part of the world and a great place to live.” Nick started off as a groundworker before working through the trades, including bricklaying and plastering, and went into management 20 years ago. He has won several company awards for customer satisfaction, health and safety, and quality, and puts his recent success down to his good relationship with assistant site manager, Kushal, and materials controller, Max. A three-bedroom Spruce show home and two-bedroom Hawthorn sales office have just been opened at Osprey Rise at Peters Village and home hunters can visit on an appointment-only basis. The Spruce is an impressive double-fronted home which combines traditional architecture with modern design. The sitting room and kitchen/dining area span the full length of the property making them light, airy and very spacious, and ideal for entertaining guests. The master bedroom includes a private dressing area and an en suite. The Hawthorn has a light, airy open-plan kitchen/dining area, which opens, through French doors, to a private back garden. Both bedrooms span the width of the property and the family-sized bathroom is conveniently located in-between. Stuart Brooks, area sales manager, said: “The pride we have at Osprey Rise at Peters Village is from seeing a happy customer move into a great home. Customers have big dreams and aspirations of what they want and we love tailoring a blank palette to their requests. Seeing them walk through the front door is just wonderful.” Home hunters who reserve before 31st May could receive a £500 monthly mortgage contribution for a year.
