Redditch dad hails home buying scheme as family celebrate new-build life

A father-of-four in Redditch is hailing a Government-scheme designed to help buyers up or onto the housing market after purchasing his first property and opening the door to the perfect family environment.

Jack Horton says life couldn’t be better after using the Help to Buy – Equity Loan scheme, which is exclusive to new-build homes and available to both first-time buyers and current home owners, to move into Bovis Homes’ Millwood Meadows location.

The rugby lover chose a four-bedroom house with wife Hayley, 14-year-old daughter Kirsty, 11-year old twin boys Zak and Charlie, and younger daughter Erin, 5.

Jack, who grew up in Solihull, said: “This is our first home and the experience couldn’t have been better. Help to Buy was so straightforward, it was made simple for us by the great staff at Bovis Homes.

Jack and his family love nothing better than to visit nearby Abbey Stadium Sports Centre, which has swimming pools, a gym, sports hall, athletics track and exercise studios.

Kirsty is fundraising for a trip to Tanzania next summer, where she will help by working on water and infrastructure projects, including building work.

She has so far raised nearly half of her £4,000 target, by babysitting and through raffles at Alcester Rugby Club, where her dad played up until last season.

Jack, who is project manager at an automation and control company, was captain of the rugby team and is still heavily connected to the club.

The family moved to Studley ten years ago when Jack worked on an industrial estate in Alcester. But he is now delighted with his new-build home in Redditch, where he sometimes works from home in the dining room, so that he can still socialise with the family, plus gaze out of the French door windows onto the impressive back garden!
