Residents praise community feel at popular new-build location in Staffordshire following street party

With cause for celebration, a number of residents at a housebuilder’s popular Staffordshire location finally had the opportunity to get together and raise a glass to their new homes and neighbourhood. Following the lifting of government restrictions, the new home owners at Bovis Homes’ The Steadings development in Essington organised a street party which began at the sales office, with bubbly provided by the sales team, and continued on the development into the night. Liesel Wright, who moved into her three-bedroom Cypress home at The Steadings with her husband and two daughters at the end of last year, said: “The street party was fantastic. On the morning of the party, my neighbours and I spent time hanging bunting from our bedroom windows across to other houses. We enjoyed drinks and nibbles at the sales office before inviting everyone back to our house for sandwiches, drinks and snacks on the drive where we sat outside getting to know each other. It was a great night and there were a few sore heads the next morning! “Our neighbours are lovely. The whole area has a great community feel and with the beautiful surroundings, it feels like we live in the countryside.” Lindsey, who is hoping to complete on her home at the development in September, said: “This is my third new-build home and this is the first time I have experienced an event drawing the community together. It’s so useful speaking to other residents – inevitably it helps with a sense of community but also with recommendations on suppliers and tradesmen. Originally from Wolverhampton, Lindsey is moving from Sutton Coldfield to Essington in order to be closer to family. “As I haven’t moved in yet, my only interactions with my neighbours have been when I’ve visited the development. Everyone has been so pleasant and welcoming, especially as I’ve been spotted regularly peering over the fence to see the progress of my new home.” Jenny O’Connor, who moved into her brand-new home at the development on Christmas Eve, said: “It was so nice to finally meet our neighbours as we hadn’t had chance to. Everyone is friendly and it feels like a lovely place to live.” Jenny, who lives with her daughter in a two-bedroom Holly house type, added: “I wanted a new-build as I loved the thought of it being clean and new. I wouldn’t have wanted to come home after work and start stripping wallpaper, worry about wiring and we could have carpets put down before we moved in.” The pair, who previously lived just four miles away, have praised the village’s thriving local community. “There are lots of community activities going on in the village,” said Jenny. “There’s a lovely primary school, scout and guide hut, activities at the church and community litter picks. There’s also plenty of countryside, local shops, a post office and a village pub, plus a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy.” Louise Macrae, regional marketing manager, said: “We were so pleased that everyone was finally able to meet each other properly and enjoy celebrating their new homes and neighbourhood. It sounded like a fantastic day and hopefully it’s the beginning of many community-led gatherings and activities. “The Steadings development, which is managed by Pride in the Job Quality Award winner Adam Harrison, offers glorious countryside on its doorstep and provides the best of rural living, while still boasting excellent travel links to Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Cannock and it’s within easy reach of the M6.” To find out more about the three and four-bedroom homes available at The Steadings, as well as information on purchase assistance schemes, visit the the Bovis Homes website: https://www.bovishomes.co.uk/new-homes-at-essington/essington/
