Rising star Adam lands top house building award for work at Kemble

- 05 Jul 16

A young Bovis Homes site manager has been selected from over 16,000 others from across the country to win one of the house building industry's most prestigious awards.

After completing an apprenticeship scheme with the home builder just three years ago, Adam Elvin has been recognised as one of the best site managers in the country after receiving the National House Building Council's Pride in the Job award.

Adam, 24, is in charge of Bovis Homes' Phillips Lea location in Kemble, and won a Quality Award in the large house builder category. To win the accolade, the development and the site manager were judged by NHBC specialists, with every stage of the build rigorously inspected ensuring meticulous and consistent attention to detail. Adam also had to demonstrate excellent leadership, technical expertise and robust health and safety processes.

Adam said: "The team here have worked really hard and we were hoping we might win, but it's not an easy award to get so I wasn't really expecting it. I was over the moon when I found out."

His career at Bovis Homes has gone from strength to strength since he started with the company at the age of 18. Once he had completed his three-year carpentry apprenticeship working at Bovis Homes developments, Bristol-based Adam secured an assistant site manager position with the house builder. He was then promoted to site manager in 2014.

Adam continued: "I'll finish at Phillips Lea next year and then move on to another Bovis Homes site. I hope to get a few more years' experience as a site manager and then I'd like to move up the career ladder. My next goal is to get the Seal of Excellence Award."

Adam will be automatically entered into the next stage, the regional 'Seal of Excellence Awards', which will be presented in the autumn at a series of ceremonies across the country.

Western Build Director, Martin Mills, said: "This award is testimony to all the hard work and dedication which Adam and the team have shown throughout the build at Phillips Lea. We're very proud of the homes in Kemble and the people working there."

Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, the Phillips Lea development brings a total of 50 new homes to the area. Four of the 25 open market homes, which are a mix of four, five and six bedroom homes, are already reserved.

Martin continued: "Co-ordinating all the building work on site is a challenging task and Adam and his team have done a fantastic job in ensuring that we continue to produce high quality homes, safely and on time."
