Sherborne couple loving retired life in their new home at Mildenhall

Retired couple Cheryl and Paul Whybrew are making the most of their new life at Bovis Homes’ Mildenhall development in Sherborne - in a spacious and sparkling five-bedroom home.

Moving to Dorset from the Cotswolds in June this year to be closer to family, including a one-year-old granddaughter, the pair describe Sherborne as ‘their kind of town’ - highlighting the lovely high street, charming character, and amenities such as the local train station and leisure centre as key draws.

Paul said: “Mildenhall appealed to us because of the great location, size of the development and the style of properties available.

“Previously we lived two and half hours away from our granddaughter too, and now she’s just 30 minutes down the road. Cheryl’s son, his wife and granddaughter live in Australia, so they aren’t as easy to visit, however we now have plenty of space for them to stay with us!

“This is the first new home for both of us, but we really like the convenience of new-builds – things work and there is less maintenance. You have the freedom to choose carpets, tiles and other features before you move in and it just feels lovely to be in a property that is brand new.

“The layout of our home, which is a Truro house type, is fantastic, particularly the family room which is a delight. We also love the garden and view - this is something we didn’t quite expect with a new house.

“Four of our neighbours moved in at the same time as us. They are all very friendly, of a similar age and disposition, which is great when you are new to the area.

“One of our main hobbies is walking and we are enjoying finding new walks around here, getting to know our surroundings. We also like to use the gym, I cycle a bit too and Cheryl paints a little - so we live a very good retired life here in Sherborne!”

The pair purchased their new-build home through Bovis Homes’ own part exchange scheme. Talking about Home Exchange, Paul said, “The deal we received through the package was good. Because of the time it takes to sell privately, we would have missed the opportunity to buy this house without the part exchange option too, so that was invaluable.”
