Sherborne labourer builds such strong ties with new-build customers he seeks manager role

A labourer in Sherborne has built such a good rapport with home owners at a new-build location he is now inspired to become an assistant site manager.

Bovis Homes' Donny Fraser at Mildenhall in Sherborne
Donny Fraser, from Wincanton, works at Bovis Homes’ Mildenhall development on Bradford Road, and has been singled out for praise by customers for his hard work, communication and high levels of service.

Donny, who has worked at the housebuilder for three years and followed his father into the industry, has now applied for the company’s trainee assistant site manager programme.

“There’s a great relationship between the sales and build teams at Mildenhall and house buyers can see that.” Donny said.

“We’ve got some brilliant customers here and I’m glad they value what we do – we’re always trying to carry out any work as quickly and with the least amount of disruption as possible and support them as best we can.

“I’d love to become an assistant site manager to support our residents even more and widen my skills at Mildenhall and Bovis Homes.”

Donny, originally from Glasgow, started off as a painter and decorator, before becoming a ground worker, like his dad.

His site manager, Ian Ellis, has encouraged him all the way and said it was Donny’s good nature and commitment that went down so well with customers.

Ian, who was also Donny’s first site manager in Wincanton a few years ago, said: “We get all sorts of home buyers here doctors, teachers, other professionals, growing families, downsizers and retirees and they all seem to get on very well with Donny!

“We pride ourselves on high quality build and great finishes, and what we fit here is top-of-the range. We get some fantastic feedback from customers and Donny is often the reason.”

Donny lives with his partner Laraine and two daughters – two-year-old Iris and one-year-old Beatrice – and said the area was great for schools and raising a family.

Bovis Homes’ trainee assistant site manager programme aims to progress talented people within the company. The 12-month programme helps them become an assistant site manager and gain the relevant qualifications.

Mildenhall has four and five-bedroom family homes available.
