Shifnal provides perfect location for retired couple

When Fran and Steve Henrywood decided to move to Shropshire to be closer to their grandchildren, they initially struggled to find the right property. But thanks to Bovis Homes' Iddeshale Gardens location in Shifnal, they soon discovered their perfect home.

Fran, a former office manager for an architecture firm, and Steve, who was an IT consultant, were living near Coventry when they first retired, but soon decided they needed a change of scenery.

"We were either going to move to Cornwall for the sea air, or to Shropshire to be close to our son and his family," Fran explains.

"Eventually we decided on Shifnal so we could see more of our two grandchildren. However, when we first started looking for a new home in the town we couldn't find anything that met our requirements, so we ended up buying in Telford," she adds.

But after less than a year in Telford, the couple received an email from Bovis Homes inviting them to take a look around its new Iddeshale Gardens development in Shifnal.

"We jumped at the opportunity," says Steve. "We've always liked new homes and just from looking at the houses online, we were very taken with the Montpellier housetype - the layout was ideal for us."

The four-bedroom Montpellier comes with open-plan kitchen and dining area, integrated appliances, dual aspect sitting room with French doors, as well as an en suite and built-in wardrobe in the master bedroom.

The couple visited Bovis Homes' nearby Shrewsbury location to look around a Montpellier show home, and decided then to make a reservation. They also took advantage of the Home Exchange scheme, meaning that they didn't need to worry about selling their existing property because Bovis Homes bought it from them. 

"The part exchange process was so easy and it meant we could get straight on with planning our move," says Fran.

"Throughout the move, our sales advisors Mark and Mandy were amazing. They were always on the end of the 'phone and happy to all the legwork. They were also a really calming influence at the point when we felt the stress of the move," she adds.

"When we moved in, we had a few snagging issues, as you might expect, but the build team were ever so quick to fix them. As soon as we reported them, they were knocking on the door to get it fixed!"

Now they have properly settled in, the couple are gettingg to know their new home and location.
"Shifnal's a fantastic place," explains Steve. "You could almost give up your car because everything is so close by, there's plenty of great routes for us to walk with our Jack Russell, Jack, and plenty of lovely restaurants and an award-winning pub too!

"Best of all though, we're able to spend more time with our son, his wife and our grandchildren, which is exactly why we moved here.  We'd like to thank Bovis Homes for helping make it possible."
