Ship ahoy at Somerton nursery!

Children at King Ina Church of England Academy finished their term walking the plank as they welcomed a new addition to their playground thanks to a recent donation from a local housebuilder.

A new pirate ship has been added to the outdoor play equipment at Owlets Pre-School, which is part of the Academy, after Bovis Homes gave £395 to the Somerton nursery.

“We were delighted to support the primary school and its adjoining nursery,” says Faye Cooper, regional marketing manager. “Playing outdoors and being active is an important part of children’s development. It’s wonderful to see the kids enjoying the new pirate ship – which we’re sure will make play time even more exciting!”

Bovis Homes recently joined the Somerton community with its nearby Northfields location, which offers a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

“We’ve welcomed many new young residents to our Northfields location – many of whom attend the nursery and school, so have been able to enjoy the new play equipment themselves,” says Faye. “It’s a lovely new flourishing neighbourhood and there’s a real community spirit growing.”

Alison Peasey, Owlets manager, said: “We are so grateful to Bovis Homes for donating money to allow us to buy the pirate ship. The children absolutely love playing on it. At Owlets we encourage active outdoor play and the pirate ship has been a fantastic addition to our outdoor area. The ship has also created another great place for the children’s imaginations to grow. They have been pretending to be pirates on the ship, steering towards buried treasure on desert islands and following treasure maps they have drawn!”

And the fun doesn’t end when the children return home from school, as Bovis Homes also recently opened a play area at Northfields.
