Somerset dream becomes reality for upsizers

When a daughter flying the nest didn't create quite as much space as they expected, the Palmer family's house hunting in Wincanton didn't take them far - just two doors down the street to be exact!

Moving from a three-bed to a four-bed property at Bovis Homes' The Chase location was achieved with a minimum of fuss, and mum and dad Claire and Andy are even more delighted with their brand new home than they were with their first at the development - as are daughters Adele (19) and Natalie (16).

The Palmers made their dream move to Somerset from Bracknell in October 2016 and settled into the three-bedroom Bearsley house type.

"We settled in really quickly and the home was lovely, but when Adele came back from university and the girls had their friends over at Christmas, it got a little cosy," says Claire.

"When we first looked at the new homes at The Chase, I fell in love with the four-bedroom Alexander house type, but they were all sold out at the time. Not long after moving in, I received a phone call from Kerry, the sales advisor, and she let me know an Alexander had become available! We decided to move again - just six months later!" says Claire.

With an open-plan kitchen and dining area leading into a large sitting room and four good-size bedrooms, the layout of the Alexander was perfect for the Palmer family.

"The sales advisors were so nice and really helpful and it all went so smoothly. Kerry lives here at The Chase too, and we've actually become quite good friends. I'll often go to her for advice about the local area - she's a great source of knowledge!

"As we were only moving two doors down, it wasn't too much of a hassle and many of our neighbours came out to help us," adds Claire.

"We have always loved Somerset and really like the relaxed lifestyle," says Claire. "With Adele moving out to go to university and Natalie finishing her GCSEs, it seemed the perfect time to make the move - we decided that it was now or never!

"We had a look at second hand homes in and around Wincanton and just couldn't find what we wanted. There was always something which wasn't quite right with them. I hadn't really thought about a new-build home, but one of the estate agents called us up and told us about The Chase.

"We went to have a look around and it just seemed to tick all the boxes and the site was lovely - really spacious and surrounded by farmland.

"We all love our new home and location - we've joined such a friendly community. Even our dog, Alfie, loves it too! He's a fan of our garden, which is a really good size and we've got big plans for it!"
