Stafford Salvation Army officer hails housebuilder for Christmas appeal toys

An officer in the Stafford Salvation Army has spoken of her delight after a national housebuilder donated more than 20 toys and dozens of items of clothing as part of its Christmas appeal.

Bovis Homes’ Dunston colleagues supplied the toys – including little unicorns and a robot dinosaur - plus four boxes and three bags of clothes to the charity, who will provide them to the homeless and those in need.

Knitwear, trousers, long-sleeve tops, hats and scarves were all donated to the Salvation Army for the homeless. The new toys were bought for the charity’s Christmas Present Appeal.

Linda Downward, corps officer at the Stafford Salvation Army, on Faraday Road, said: "Bovis
Homes' consistent care for those less fortunate helps with my planning in knowing that there is a reliable source of gifts for others.

"Please be assured they will be given to those in crisis situations, continuing the good work of the Salvation Army in the UK and especially in our local area.

"The Salvation Army's Christmas Present Appeal makes a huge difference to thousands of
children across the UK, and here in Stafford, by making sure they receive a gift on Christmas Day instead of missing out.”

Other gifts included a cuddly toy puppy, Tickle & Roll Elmo and Hungry Frogs game.

Louise Macrae, regional marketing manager at Bovis Homes, pictured right, said: “We’re delighted with the wonderful toys and the clothes our colleagues have donated for those in need, through the Salvation Army.

“We’re always very impressed at how much Bovis Homes staff collect and donate to charity all-year round and this thank you from the Salvation Army was the icing on the cake.”

Colleagues in Bovis Homes' Stafford office, at Dunston Hall, have also participated in a Christmas jumper day, raising much-needed funds for charity Save the Children.
