Students get creative for Headcorn hoarding

A new Kent development is showing off the creative talents of local school children, following a competition that has seen the students’ drawings blown-up and displayed on the site’s hoarding.

A group of Year 5 and 6 pupils at Headcorn Primary School have seen their drawings turned into graphics around Bovis Homes’ Catkin Gardens location after winning a competition held by the house builder.

“All the children got stuck into the project and it was extremely hard to select just six winners,” says regional marketing manager, Candice McCabe. “We taught them about the importance of health and safety and we were delighted with how well they took that on board and how the key messages were represented in their artwork.”

The winning drawings now adorn the fencing around Catkin Gardens, a new part of the Headcorn community, which will bring a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes to the village.

“The pictures have really brightened up the area and certainly made the fencing much more interesting!” says Candice. “Creating these posters have provided a fun and engaging way to teach the children about the dangers a building site can pose and what measures are put in place to ensure residents, contractors and staff are kept safe.”

Louise Woodgate, teacher at Headcorn Primary School, said: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in this art competition and we are very proud of their achievements.”
