The wheels on the bus still go round and round in Paulton thanks to £1,000 from housebuilder

- 16 Nov 18

A local housebuilder has stepped in to support the Big Blue Play Bus, helping the community service to stay on the road and continue its work across Bath and North East Somerset.

Bovis Homes has donated £1,000 to the Play Bus, a double-decker, fully converted into a mobile community centre, which provides a place for parents, carers and pre-school children in rural areas to meet, play and socialise.

“We are very grateful to Bovis Homes for their generous donation and their help with promoting our service to new families moving to the Paulton area,” says Emma Hazelton, from the Community Play Bus.

“At the Big Blue Bus we provide a friendly and fun environment for parents, carers and children aged from 0 to four years to meet and play. We hope the families of Paulton will come and say hello and enjoy the fun and toys we have to offer.

“Our National Lottery funding runs out in November and new sponsors, both nationally and from the local area, are being sought to help us continue our six sessions we currently run.”

Bovis Homes, which has a history of supporting community projects, has brought a range of brand-new family homes to Paulton at its High View location.

“We are delighted to support the Big Blue Bus,” says regional marketing manager, Stacey Banfield. “It is a great local resource, which helps to bring communities together and encourages residents living in isolated and rural areas to develop lasting support networks. We are happy to help where we can and pleased that we are able to help the bus to continue to operate once its funding from the National Lottery finishes.”

Emma adds: “We hope to attract new supporters who would be willing to help us by offering to contribute to the yearly running of each session. Any business that would like to help can get in touch with the bus on 01761 435966 or 07971 225724.”

The Community Play Bus will run from the car park at Paulton Village Hall on a Tuesday afternoon.
