Thurston Library digital donation boost from Bovis Homes

- 28 Sep 21

A much-loved community library in Thurston has opened a new interactive learning facility thanks to a donation from developer Bovis Homes. The housebuilder, which is building 129 homes at its Grange Park development, off Barton Road in the village, donated two iPads to the library to support its new interactive display, enabling more collaborative sessions for visitors. The iPads will allow users to write, draw and interact with the display board, which was delivered through a fundraising campaign by The Friends of Thurston Library, alongside Thurston Parish Council and will be used by the community as well as on educational visits. Ellie Longman, Thurston Library Manager, said: “Like so many organisations, it has been a tough year for libraries. “Despite being closed during the lockdowns, Suffolk Libraries have been working hard on plans to expand our range of services and are delighted to have been able to raise the funds for a brand new interactive display thanks to the help of The Friends of Thurston Library and the parish council. “We are also extremely grateful to Bovis Homes for the donation of the two iPads to assist us using this new interactive display. It is hugely appreciated and will help us to expand and enhance our current offer for local groups and the wider community.” Jason Colmer, sales and marketing director for Bovis Homes Eastern, said: “Thurston Library sits at the heart of this local community, and we’re happy to have been able to support this endeavour. “The interactive display is a fantastic way to engage children and the community, and these iPads will be used by residents from across Thurston and beyond in new and engaging learning opportunities.” There is currently a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes available to purchase at Grange Park, with prices from £329,995.
