Warwick housing development lands top Health and Safety Award

The construction team behind a new housing development in Warwick has been recognised for the excellent safety standards of their site with a national award.

The build team from Bovis Homes' Warwick Gates location, led by site manager Frank McLane, has been announced as a 'Commended Best Site Award' winner in the National House Building Council's (NHBC) annual Health and Safety Awards. It comes after several months of regular scoring inspections from the NHBC judges.

Frank, who has worked at Warwick Gates for just over a year, says: "We've got a great group of people here and we really pull together. It's a team effort and everyone on site works really hard, so we're thrilled with the award. It's a recognition of the commitment and dedication that everyone here has to health and safety."

Bovis Homes' Regional Build Director Chris Topham, believes the award demonstrates Bovis Homes' firm commitment to site safety.

"Health and safety is an absolute priority for Bovis Homes, and the Warwick Gates team embody this," he says. "I'd like to congratulate Frank and his team, not only on this, but on the great community of new homes that they are helping to deliver at Warwick Gates."

The award, which will be presented by the NHBC at a special ceremony at the ICC in Birmingham this July, recognises the outstanding level of health and safety management demonstrated by the team from planning through to execution.

It is the second award for health and safety that Frank and his team have won in just six months, having been crowned the best among more than 100 Bovis Homes sites across the country at the company's annual awards in January. 

Alongside Frank, the team consists of Assistant Site Manager Vincent Coetzee, forklift driver, Erjon Zina, labourer Christopher Nolan and apprentice William Evans.

Site work at Warwick Gates, situated off Harbury Lane, began last year and brings a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes in a variety of styles to the area. The first residents moved into the location in December 2016, with more homes set to be occupied over the coming months.
