West Sussex housebuilder donates £250 towards community’s commemorations

A West Sussex housebuilder has donated £250 to help a local community commemorate fallen soldiers as part of their Remembrance Day activities.

The team at Bovis Homes' South East region handed over a cheque to Rusper Parish Council, which went towards their large poppies and Silent Soldier silhouettes.

Poppies were placed outside Bovis Homes’ The Maples location, in Crawley, and a Silent Soldier figure close by, as part of the centenary commemorations for the end of the First World War.

Candice McCabe, regional marketing manager at Bovis Homes, said: “We’re proud to contribute towards the commemorations in Rusper and Crawley.

“At Bovis Homes we have deep connections to the military and all of us in the South East region wanted to contribute towards Rusper’s marking of this historic event.”

Beacons were lit, bells rung and a service held at Rusper Church. Meanwhile, Bovis Homes colleagues marked the occasion at The Maples, on Rusper Road.

Bovis Homes received the prestigious Silver Award from the Ministry of Defence Employee Recognition Scheme (ERS) last year for supporting the employment of military people.

It is also a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the Forces and their families are treated fairly, while the housebuilder also has dedicated purchasing schemes for Armed Forces personnel.
