Winnersh family praises Help to Buy–as new-build home gives kids more room

A growing family in Winnersh is delighted to have used a Government scheme to purchase a new-build home - meaning their children can now have their own bedrooms!

Sian and Ben Frickleton moved to Bovis Homes’ Hatchwood Mill location, on Duffett Drive, using the Help to Buy – Equity Loan scheme.

Now Ashby, 4, and Rowan, 1, have their own space – with Ashby utilising his room to build his favourite train tracks – while Sian and Ben set about decorating a new play area in the house.

Sian, a rural development manager, who moved into a three-bedroom end-terrace home, said: “We’ve all been so excited about the move and love that we have our own garden and that the children have their own bedrooms.

“Ashby is over the moon as he has lots of space to build his beloved train tracks! We’re looking forward to the play area once it’s ready too.

“We’re so glad we used Help to Buy, which we’d definitely recommend as it’s simple and clear and allowed us to find a home to fit our family.

“We would not have been able to move without Help to Buy and cannot thank the Bovis Homes sales team enough. We feel they went above and beyond to support us and help make our move to Hatchwood Mill happen.

“We needed to make the step up from a flat to a house in order to suit the needs of our larger family. We love our spacious front room and dining room area, which opens onto our garden. The location is perfect for us for work and school, with great transport links.

“The neighbours are very friendly, which helps, and there are lots of other kids in the area. It’s always lovely to be greeted with a smile and a ‘good morning’ from people.”

The couple moved from Woodley, a five-minute drive up the road, where they lived for 10 years and have family.

Sian splits her time between working from home and her company’s Reading office. There is a park and ride service, a five-minute drive away from Hatchwood Mill, with buses to Reading every 15 minutes.

At the weekend, the family loves walking adventures, arts and craft, and music festivals. They are currently saving for a campervan as they love to travel around the country.
