Work re-starts at Vistry Group locations with safety the priority

- 29 Apr 20

View our video: Work re-started at many Vistry Group new-build locations across the country on Monday, 27th April, with the housebuilder committed to making the safety of colleagues, customers, contractors and communities an absolute priority.

Keith Carnegie, Vistry Group executive director, highlights the company's return to work at locations
Activities are being carried out by the housebuilder in a controlled and phased manner, with site managers and small teams initially preparing the sites, followed by the first contractors returning to re-start the work under enhanced guidelines from Government, Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive.

Keith Carnegie, executive director at Vistry Group, said: “The safety of our people, our customers and the communities in which we operate, is our absolute number one priority. We are carrying work out in accordance with safe operating procedures that have been developed in accordance with advice from Public Health England.

“We aren’t at full capacity in terms of site numbers and our site managers will be carefully monitoring the behaviours of people who are on site, so that everybody strictly adheres to PHE guidelines and our safe operating procedures.

“We will learn what works, what doesn’t work and how we need to adapt and learn new habits in respect of how we are going to carry out construction in the months ahead.

“It’s imperative that we as a nation, and as a company, get back to work in a safe, controlled way. We will learn how to do that, for our supply chain, our people, our communities and for our customers. That’s the reason why we are now starting out, learning how we are going to do this and how we will be operating in the future.”

Ron Hobbs, area build director at Vistry Group, who covers Pear Tree Walk in Drakes Broughton, Worcestershire, one of the locations now open, said he was glad to be back.

“It’s very good to be back on site, I think we need to get going again,” he said. “There are lots of new rules, but it’s a good sign we are here and we’re moving forward. There’s been a lot of work from above with set procedures to make sure we comply with government guidelines. We are confident we can adhere to them and we will be working closely with the workforce to make sure they all comply.”

Sales advisors and teams remain available by telephone and email while sales offices are closed, as do customer care teams who are operating on an emergency-only basis under the current restrictions.

Vistry Group has just been awarded a five-star rating from the Home Builders Federation, following the annual announcement of the industry’s customer satisfaction survey results.
